91 240 quits at light

Just an update.
After checking for codes, coil resistance and Timing belt alignment. Replacing the CPS and Fuel relay. I now believe the culprit may be the primary fuel pump. I initially thought the fault was located in the ignition system since it turned over unevenly and ran erratically. At one point though after sitting overnight, it did start and run relatively smooth for a couple of minutes at a high rpm, eventually stalling out after backing off to idle. That was the last time it showed any signs of starting.
In recent weeks it has been making the typical low level whine when run below a quarter of a tank. When the car stalled out, the fuel gauge was reading below a quarter after running about 75 MPH for 20 minutes. Perhaps this stained the pump. It is closing in on 3000,000 miles.
Other than the clicking coming from the fuel relay, I'm not hearing any action coming from the secondary fuel pump though the noise from the traffic make that difficult. Could it possibly be a grounding problem perhaps with the CPU? But wouldn't that set off a code and effect the activation of the fuel relay which I can feel?
I have too much on my plate now and am going to pawn this off on my unsuspecting mechanic when he finds the car in his lot 7am Monday morning. He has treated me well over the years and I would like to leave him with any heads up you all may have...
