I see what you mean. I think fuel pressure test is in order, but I charge ahead! Mainly, I charge ahead because fuel pump is so old, I do not want to be stranded because of it... and I'm a stubborn head!
Note that FPR is a regulator not a generator of pressure. The main fuel pump makes the pressure for the FPR... so the FPR doesn't fail if the pressure is low, but the ECU is depending on injector spray created at 43.5 psi, not say 40 psi, or whatever it may be, if fuel pump is under working.
If fuel pump doesn't fix, then it's wiring harness next. I've had like 3 or 4 ECTs in the car in the last year to know wiring on it is good.
