hi sages- thats an interesting statement by john mcq- that the redblock is designed not to try or work too hard so it will run much longer. the only two engines that i have noted for extreme durability and longevity are the redblock and the chrysler slantsix. interesting also that the slant has a very long stroke compared to other inline 6s which means it will not wear as fast due to the longer but slower piston stroke.actually the redblock is a slant four with a long stroke too. 834p my last slant went 360k before it disappeared due to rust . current redblock 92 245 is running perfectly at 232k miles. have had many cars of various makes since 65 but none even close to the above 2 tanks. both had manual od and would easily keep up with v8s on the hwy but were slow off the line. taking off from a light in either car often earned me foul hand gestures and a case of face from drivers going around me. fla and nj drivers i think have the worst manners and upbringing in america. being sensitive my feelings were often hurt. what would you wiser folks recommend? btw that article on redblocks on todays fcp euro sight was good. fat regards oldduke
