Safest is from above...





But if you can't, try to lift at the bracket where the exhaust downpipe is fastened to the block/bellhousing.



Don't lift it by the oil pan for two reasons: One, you may distort the pan, or two, you may deform its gasket more than it has been in 25 years or so.
