I now have a set up like Art's photo. $3.80 is all it cost, but the metal beam is borrowed from the hardware store: it's part of a shelf unit that's not in use. I figure that this engine support will allow me to do both sides at once -- doing one mount at a time would put a lot of stress on the beam, because it would be attempting to raise one side of a triangle of supports by pulling up on the front middle. The two remaining attached bushes would produce a lot of resistance = force needed to pull the engine up. That's my understanding of the physics of it at least.
