Most 544 with B16's got the M4, but late in production Volvo made a M40 to fit a B16 bellhousing.

I might have a good used speedometer gear.

What happened to your old gear?

FYI, the M40 is the 4 speed manual transmission used on most B18 and B20 equipped Volvo cars.
