For the first time tonight, because I had my directional flasher relay become intermittent today, I operated with the ash tray and fuse holder door removed so I could reach in and touch/push the flasher (and make it work for a few minutes at a time).
Tonight, driving the car, I reached in to massage the relay and noticed the fuses on the right side (I haven't yet noted the numbers, but for sure the far right 3 or so) ceramic fuse bodies were pretty darned HOT (too hot to want to KEEP my fingers on them).
I partially rotated the fuses so they would make better contact with the end connectors (this often renews the connections between the brass end fingers and the lead alloy element) and found the end prongs very tight (often loose tension causes warm fuses).
Everything works perfectly (the low beams could be a tad brighter w/o hurting my feelings).
Searches I did on the subject mention worn fuel pumps (the installed Bosch unit is only 5000mi old).
I'll insert an ammeter in place of each fuse tomorrow, but given that at least 3 are hot, it seems unlikely all are drawing excess current.
So I am wondering if this heat is usual given good fuse tension and clean end connections.
