J-Type O.D. Question 1800 1973

>"...The OD can be separated from the rear of the transmission easily enough if you do need to make repairs after installation..."

I remember lots of J-type posts including the advice that if you were planning on removing the unit from the transmission it was necessary to stall the car at idle by releasing the clutch with the gearbox in REVERSE. Evidently failure to do that with a unit that had been in service made the removal quite difficult.

With the assembly in the car I remember having to cut off a 10mm box end wrench in order to remove the top most nut on the group that held the overdrive to the transmission. Very limited working space- even on the 240 sedan.
