B18 Timing gear replacement 120-130

Thanks for all the comments. So Phil, if the crank pulley is lined up with the timing chest pointer for TDC all is well for this job and will have the timing marks aligned with pistons #1 and #4 at TDC? No need for #4 to be on compression TDC with both rockers loose. I don't want them to have to take the rocker cover off if not necessary.
As is often the case, the fine details of how people describe things can lead to conflicting opinions. I'm guilty of it too hence the confusion!
