Your distrib 002 is the very very earliest B18 variety, already superseded by 003 by my mid-year production '62. Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that, but yours sounds a mess.
They rarely tolerate missing parts, even little ones.
I'm quite sure it is vac retard.

I have a B20E distrib with Petronix conversion that could be had...
