Check that the valves on cylinder 2 & 4 are actually opening the same amount as those on 1 & 3 - I had a slight misfire on my car a few years back and chased my tail for a long time until I actually pulled the camshaft and found that the exhaust lobe on #2 was worn and not fully opening the valve.
