SUCCESS!

Changed out the cap, rotor & wires with oem parts.
Old cap had oil in it.
Pin holding the shaft in the dizzy body will not budge so I can't renew the seal (I have one in the parts box).
Will go looking for another dizzy body so when I try a bigger hammer, if I break or bend the thing I'll have a backup.

It now runs like the proverbial scalded cat, no bogs, no misses.
