Dear B.B.,
Hope you're well and stay so. The front wheel hubs - factory-lubricated - seem very robust: the bearing balls are about 3/8" in diameter. The bearings are not designed to be lubricated.
When a hub starts to fail, it usually makes noise. Use a jack to raise the wheel. Put a jack stand under the car's frame.
Then, use your hand to spin the tire. If the tire spins smoothly and quietly, the hub is in good order. If there's a low-pitch "rumble" or a "grinding" noise, the hub may need to be replaced.
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
