When my wife's 245 was hit and totaled, the other driver's insurance company (the Chubb Group) wanted us to settle for what amounted to Blue Book wholesale. We held out and eventually got Blue Book retail. I don't think you can do better than retail, even for a diamond of a car, unless you have an appraiser's valuation and have the insurance company base its rates on that valuation. My son had an accident with his 1965 Mustang which had been fully restored and insured at an appraiser's valuation. The insurance adjuster wanted to total it for $600 until my son waived the valuation and policy in front of the appraiser's nose. They ended up putting over $200 in repairs into that car.
