all I can say is you can get more than the first offer from the insurance company. My fathers 740 gle was totaled when rearended (at a barely broken in 140,000 km). The first offer was 5000, he tald them the car was worth more than that and then told him to find an identical car for the price they offered him (in the same condition, which was mint). About three days later they came back and offered him 10,000 for the car (which is what it was worth). If you know that they can't get you a replacement car in identical condition for what they are offering then challenge them to find you one, you will wind up with a more realistic settlement.
