Yes, you can use the tach. It fits directly into the space where the clock is. Take out the clock and put in the tach. It is an exact fit. Then hook up the red and white "tach wire" (it should be hanging loose underneath the dash). If you are good a getting into small places, you can remove the felt under the steering column, undo the clock and put in the tach without removing the instrument cluster. Flashlight and small metrics (6 or 7 mm) work well here. I would recommend this proceedure on an 85, since it still has the speedo cable hooked to the instrument cluster. George
