Mis-behaving and running lean 700 1987

My normally trusty and reasonably peppy (for an na) 740 has slowed down a bit since its turned 100. I borrowed a friend's AMM and it picked up a little bit and got better mileage (i was getting somewhere in the mid teens, now i'm getting 20 or so), but I checked the plugs and they're telling me that my baby is running lean. It spent a week in the shop about a month ago because it was, for lack of a better word, spazzing out. Occasionally it would run like a scalded dog, and then it absolutely wouldn't get out of its own way (all in the same night.. i could pull up to a stoplight and blow my friend in his 240 away, and at the next light he'd just walk away). There isnt anything special to it, I change oil religiously(minor oil leak, need to change the seals... its on the list of things to do this summer) AFAIK, it doesnt ping or detonate, I run 89 in it, and I run 10w40 Castrol(I've been known to run it out a time or two ;)). I've been told that it could be the AMM(still), a flaky wiring harness, bad O2 sensor, and possibly timing/distributor. I'm planning on parking it for a while in the next few weeks (i'm building a 760 tic, and while I'm breaking that one in, i'm going to do a manual swap on this one, and maybe install the ipd cam)

Thanks!
