heheeh, actually, that particular motor has a nice pair of holes in the side of the block (someone had fun with it before i got it) so its donating its head, manifolds, and other assorted plumbing, and perhaps its pistons (they dont look bad, even the one connected to the rod that broke is in good condition). I wish i'd known about the holes before i got the car, i'da gone lower than i did, but theres so much s*** in the engine compartments that its hard to see the bottom with the turbo and all its glory still attached.

The rods question actually came from my mechanic, and it was one of those hypothetical "I wonder if..." things. I'm going to procure a couple of sets of the good rods for the 760 and the 740 gle.. its going to get an engine lift in the near future... i'm going to do some head work on it, put in the strong rods, and perhaps the turbo crank, it'll probably get a cam, i've already got an m46 transmission(I can't wait.. its an auto and i've missed my clutch! :-D), turbo fuel system, completely re-done wiring harness, a saab apc, and then as much boost as it'll hold (definitly not my daily driver, but i like to do solo II's and I enjoy friday night street racing too ;) ). I'm going to document the whole process, so there oughta be some neat(perhaps not new, i'm sure others have done this before) stuff. Oh yea, its going to be as inexpensive as possible, but i'm not going to cut corners. i'm going to look into keeping the na compression ratio. Its going to be a nice project. (i've only got $250 in it so far, and i've got a good head, manifold, turbo and its plumbing, fuel system, and a nice rotten wiring harness-thanks volvo!)
