You shouldn't feel the need to leave. Just because a very few people do not understand the purpose of a forum, doesn't mean you should throw in the towel. These few people were doomed long before they came to visit the brickboard. Not just at repairing their auto, but in their life's journey. people who give spite, anger and frustration, often reciprocate those same emotions and feelings.
Little do these people know, you may receive some form of substandard service level at a dealership. It's the collective experience of Volvo owners across the globe that make this forum unique. It is often that I hear a response, through discussion from other Volvo mechanics (not on the forum), that they "have never heard of that causing a problem." Or, they might give a response that gets you into the shop bay and few hours later you spend several hundred dollars and find you still have the same problem. People have to remember, this is only advice and it all can be weighed and analyzed to come up with the best approach.
To those who are in the small minority, maybe reading the FAQ on posting regulations should be done prior to posting. Then again, to those people, it probably wouldn't matter. I don't know what else to say other than, I guess I will apologize for all those negative, hurtful and counter-productive posts. I guess my shoulders are big enough. If it's one thing I've learned thus far, it's to shrug off those negative people. I only hope that you can do the same.
PS. Maybe there should be some sort of BB competensy test required before those non-BB savvy people are allowed to post ;) I also have to add, I can't claim that I'm a redneck (although, I wish), but I'm just your ordinary college edjucated "kid" that loves the brickboard.
To all of the current/ former mechanics (I know how hard it is to make a living in this business), electrical engineers, die hard DIY selfers, other professionals, and all Volvo enthusiasts, I solute you for such a fine forum of participation, camaraderie and enthusiasm. Even your advertisers are great. There is know other quite like it!
