Wheel Standardization 120-130 69

Hi there,

I'm thinking about installing a disc brake rear end from a P1800 in my 69' 122 but if I do won't I be faced with the problem of having different bolt patterns on the front and rear of the car ?

If so, what are some practical (and hopefully not too expensive) ways to work around this problem ? I have an opportunity to buy some second hand wheels that have oblong inserts that go in the bolt holes to enable the wheels to be adapted to different bolt patterns but they are 14" wheels and so not the most ideal solution for me as I would rather go with 15" or 16" wheels and lower profile tires (for looks) as opposed to 14's with 70 series tires to maintain a similar rolling radius.

Ideally, I would just like to convert both front and rear to the standard 240 bolt pattern. That way I could use the 5 spoke 15" Volvo mags on the car. I've heard of people having the old wheel studs cut off and machined flush and then having new studs installed in between where the old ones were located but at the right offset from center to match up with the 240 wheels. If I were to do this could I then just use a set of rotors from a 240 ?

I have a 1980 240 which I'll be euthanizing soon so I'm wondering if it might be somehow possible to replace the hubs & rotors on the 122 front end and the P1800 rear end with the hubs and rotors from my old 240 ? I can't say that I've ever paid much attention as to how the wheel hubs are attached to the rear axle and front steering assemblies so I'm not sure how it all works in there. Would it be possible to somehow use my 240 hubs and rotors to the 122 front end and P1800 disc brake rear end or is my choice limited to cutting off the old studs and installing new studs in between as described above ? Would I have to use the tapered wheel axles from the 240 as well and, if so, can they be removed from the 240 and adapted to the 122/P1800 ?

Any other ideas/suggestions ?

Thanks in advance

Roj
