Sorry, last week I gave a method of removing strut cartridges through bottom of strut housing, when top nut is rusted in place(happens in salty Winter enviroments on a 14 year old car). One important point I forgot to point out is you start by grinding, or cutting, top 1/8 inch of locking nut (just above top of housing). When you can see top edges of strut cartridge, you can hammer the cartridge from bottom, up approximately 1 inch (the cartridge body has a larger diameter about 1 inch down from top, believe me I know, and my knuckles know, the hard way). This gives some clearance to move snap-ring. Then you can remove snap-ring from bottom of strut housing. And proceed to remove remainder of top nut. My humble apologies!
