Dang it man! That sounds like baked corn syrup to me. More annoying, I have found evidence, consistent with your excellent description in my own engine. Both when the head took a dump a couple years ago (stuck valve) and more recently on my spark plugs.

Help me understand..... how/why will gas stabilizer help this condition? Might there be any unintended consequences to the cat or o2 sensor? Would other less expensive gas additives do the same thing?

I guess I am just trying to understand the mechanism at work here.
