Incredibly hard to cold start 142 140-160 1972

My problem may have some relevance to this issue, my 72 142 will fire ok but won't keep running unless I "pump" the pedal until it warms up some. This sounds wrong for a fuel injected car, but it works. I have checked the temp sensor on the front of the block and the resistances check ok with the book, both warm and cold. It doesn't seem to make any difference if the wire is connected or not leading me to beleive there is somthing wrong with the control unit. My guess is that without the wires connected to the temp sensor it should run rich when warm if everything was ok, but it doesn't. Please help! Someone out there should understand how this thing works. The car runs great when warm but I am about ready to give it the Weber treatment if I can't get this cold running issue resolved.

Thanks-Mark
