small tachometer 200 1978

i looked at my wiring diagram, and i didnt find the right color coming from my ignition coil so i went down the parts store, bought a few feet of 18 gauge primary wire and just hooked it up from the ignition coil straight to my dash. i'm idling at about 1-1.4 x 1000 rpm though. i believe my car (78 245) should be idling around 900. but i was suspecting that. it's one of the reasons i thought i needed a tach.

i still havent received the other gauges though so ill see how i manage those once they come in.
