Hey Chris -

I did exactly the same thing to my 1979 245DL some years back. I had no idea that there might have been a pre-wired connection, so I didn't look for one. I ran a piece of whatever I had on hand from the left over terminal on the tach to one of the 12V terminals on the coil. Worked like a charm. Loved having it.
