Congratulations! Great car, great price; what more could you wish for! Hope you get a great run out of your new Volvo. BTW, it's not a red 740 that was on a dealer's yard on Gt North Rd near Kelston, Akl, is it?
I figure parts are almost always more expensive than Japanese stuff. Scandinavian Motors often have to courier parts in from Australia or Sweden so the air freight component factors in heavily. Eg, I just bought an RPM sensor that only costs about NZ$77 Stateside but, sourced from Oz, Scandinavian charged me NZ$127 (including freight) plus tax
If you're not in a hurry for a part, there seems to be plenty of places to buy from. However, if your 740 is a daily runner, you may not be able to afford the luxury of sitting around waiting for the slow boat from China to bring a part from some obscure place :)
BTW, my signature ID indicates that my 940 has 84k on it. That's MILES. The odometer is in kilometers (136,000) but I convert to miles since most folk here use miles as a reference
In terms of parts and maintenance, where are you? Does your 740 have a computerized fault verification system? I'm unsure how NI regional and South Island Volvo owners get by with troubleshooting, without access to all the computerized gizmos the agents have??
Shalom!
