Thanks for the reply. I have no idea whether shaft length is different bewteen 1800 and 122. The other box wen the way of all junk so Ihave no comparison. The splined couplings are such that they only go on one way to accomodate the pinch bolt that holds them on the shaft halves. I think two spacers would fit, it is, as you say, about a two-inch gap.
