Hot, hot, hot 140-160 1973

All of a sudden my 145 with a B20 is running hot. Previously, the needle had pointed at 10 on a warm day and 8 on when it was cold. Now it goes right up to the red unless I turn on the heat.

There is no smell of coolant and no obvious leaks. The coolant is topped up.

Could the thermostat be sticking partially shut?

Other theories to consider?
