Rear wiper on wrong 700 1991

Just got my tailgate repaired from an accident and the body shop put the rear wiper on so that it sticks straight up and wipes 1/4 turn to the left, then back to straight up, then 1/4 turn to the right. Of course, I want it back the way it used to be - resting horizontally on the left and wiping 180 degrees over to the right and back. The body shop guy seems mystified how to get it to do that, can anyone give me some advice?
