M-46 sync rings 700 1984

Everything about my M-46 seems ok but the 1st gear sync ring. Has anyone tried to remove the rear main-shaft bearing without using Volvo tools? It pulls from the retainer ring grove and reaches over about 15" of shaft. The main local dealer no longer has the tools and the other one doesn't have the second extension that fits over the main shaft. Rats! Appreciate all ideas.
