I replaced all the bearings in the M46 with only a split bearing puller, snap-ring pliers and a two-arm puller. Everything else required gentle tapping with a drift of some kind. The only necessary machine shop press was needed to install new countershaft bearings, the tapered ones. Oh, and don't buy the bearings from VOLVO, get them from your local bearing supplier, but get a good brand such as Timken, FAG, etc...
