Why would someone do this? 200

Yes, I know what the pulley is held on by. One of the nuts is rounded off and stuck on the pulley, the only other nut remaining on there won't come off (not enough clearance between the pulley and the clutch). I'm taking the clutch, pump, and pulley all stuck together to my hopefully-dremel-equipped boss. Yes I imagine it is a WHOLE LOT EASIER to remove the water pump without the pulley. With the pulley in place, there's just not enough clearance to use a 1/4" ratchet and shallow socket. Yes, it's really annoying. It's also the only thing stopping me from checking the install of the new pump. My car's been parked on the street for about a week now. Grr.

FWIW, I've tracked down the requisite hoses (the lower radiator hose and expansion tank hose set me back about $50 each from the dealer.. water cooled turbo and all.. *SIGH*). Gots myself the t-belt, t-stat, seals, tensioner bearing, heater hoses, upper radiator hose, etc. And the expansion tank is a few months old too. Nick was kind enough to include four new bolts and nuts for the pulley (the Hepu pump with its impeller backing plate looks much nicer than the old pump).
