Freeze 12. How to apply?

Hey board,

1. R-12 must be removed from the system.
2. replace parts(in this case leaky condenser, and reciever dryer).
3. vacuum down the system.
4. charge the system.
What is the best way to charge. Can I just go by the chart, and add the specified amount. Or do I need guages. If I need guages, which one will work with freeze 12.

Question: is there anything else that I can do to the system to insure maximum performance?
