I was under the assumption that R-12 was no longer available except in large containers that cost about $800. If what you say is true "can be purchased at auto zone for 19.95", it is significant. Last time I was in auto zone, I didnt see any. Maybe they were out. Or maybe I didnt look good, as I wasnt expecting to find any.

Can you use the sight glass and get an accurate charge? How?

I have to open my system. From what I understand you're suppose to have it recycled, the freon that is. Im still pondering that one.

I took a fan out of a peuguot(escuse the spelling)last time at the wreckers. I intend to mount it, though not sure just how at this point. Im absolutely convinced that it will help.

If you think of anything else, please pass it along.
