Do it myself wheel alignment? 200 1989

Thanks for the advice, all.

Found a coupon for alignment at a local tire shop for $40, so I'll probably go for that.

I like the barter idea. I'll ask, but it will expose the shop manager to a lot of liability (insurance, Department of Labor rules, etc). Can't hurt to ask, though.

I did find a web site with explicit details for a DIY alignment on the Vintage Triumph Register. It's at http://www.vtr.org/maintain/diy-alignment.html - it's a lot of work.

BTW, the "count the turns" and paint mark methods of reinstalling tie rod ends only work if the new tie rod ends are identical to the old ones. My new ones were about 3mm longer than the old, and the threads started 180 degrees off from the old ones. I added one extra turn to account for the difference (tie rod thread pitch is 2mm).
