I had one do that and after I ran it for a while it started to compress.
I suspect maybe a stuck reed valve or some such.
How much freon did you put in? Vapor pressure is about 70 pounds so
there is some liquid in the system but may not be enough to build up
much pressure. Once it starts to compress the low side may go below
atmospheric. If it does, DON'T press the schrader valve or open your
charging manifold valve with freon not connected or it will suck air
into the system. Nobody wants AC that sucks!
