Is the compressor shot? 200 1987

No need to apologize, I am looking for any and all help on this. Belts on, clutch not energized and of course engine off (I like my fingers) I am turning the most forward part of the compressor assembly. This turns the internal works of the compressor and it turns easily with a slight spongy like resistance which I think is normal.
