1990 740 16v- sudden no-start. Starter not working, no sound, no clicks, nothing!

I've looked in FAQ, but I want to double check.

Connect battery + to small terminal on solenoid. This should be called the "spade terminal".
I just want to check, before I put a live wire in there!

any replies appreciated.
