940 - To turbo or not?

Mmm 940 :)

If the turbo is taken care of properly they can last quite a while.
Turbos do put some added stress on the engine, but the Volvo turbo engine has been refined to handle these added stresses since it was first introduced in the mid 80's. I have had personal experience with 2 of these engines. One of those was in our 84.5 245Ti. It was not taken care of for the first 150k miles before we bought it, we put 150k or more on it before having to retire it due to bad overall vehicle condition. This engine was never taken apart at all. Just normal maintainence.

I have not noticed higher insurance costs, these cars with turbos dont tend to fall into different categories.

I would go for the turbo, it is so nice to have that power! You can modify it for just a bit more power too :)

It is very nice to be on the highway, and to have power when u need it :)

hope this helps
take care
