Right, there's a little test probe (1 wire) attached to the box. The entire procedure for how to retrieve the codes is under the FAQ section. You have to do this thing with plugging the probe into one of the ports, pressing the button a few times for a few seconds before you turn the ignition to the 2 position (dash lights on but no cranking) and then you watch the blinking red lights.
