My sympothies go with you and the aw71 transmission, granted there rock solid but when something goes wrong oh man its a mess in hell, ive rebuilt 2 aw71's for my volvos and this weekend im on the third, there not hard to do but getting them back in the car and lined up is a pain in the rear, otherwise you sound like your at that point, if you damaged the tranny might as well pay the 150 bucks for the rebuild kit and just rebuild it, you can also check with tranny store and buy a book that will give you step by step rebuild instructions on how to do it i would recomend that if you decide to go that route. good luck.
