Paul,
you won't be albe to recreate the blue light that VW's have unless you convert your lighting to LED's. That's why their blue is SOOOOO bright. Changing the bulbs is a piece of cake. My 1990 745Ti has the lights working in the belt clips... just got the car in november. the light for the gearshift(AW71), and the buttons along the dash are all burnt out though... haven't gotten around to replacing those yet.
