I also have a M46. How does this switch on the shifter knob work? Does it send a pulse to the relay to either engage or disengage overdrive?

On an related note: My M46 slips out of OD easily when I let up on the accellerator. The light stays illuminated when this happens. I also had this problem about 70K ago, and changing the transmission fluid and cleaning the filter made it much better. I assume that this allowed more pressure to build up.
