164E heating 140-160 1975

I personally have never seen a water pump that wouldn't pump. Wobble and/or leak sure, but never on that wouldn't pump.

From the sound of it I would suspect something with the thermostat. Upside down? Or with no 'bypass' valve on it (When closed it opens another hole in the head which circulated water in the block). Or a pinched hose?

Under what conditions does it overheat? Cruising on the freeway or idling at a stop or in heavy traffic at low speeds? Does it ever actually boil?
