Hello:
You may want to see when this car was built-- the 86's from September on had the much-improved B280F, while the earlier builds had the B28F. The B280F is a radically different (and better) motor.
The B280F
1) doesn't have the oiling problems mentioned by another poster
2) has more modern electronic fuel injection
3) is easier and cheaper to service the water pump
The nivomats are expensive, but they last a long time. It may be worth leaving them be as long as they still pump up after a short drive. They are available in aftermarket for $200 USD apiece. Some have picked them up from boneyards-- you may want to consider Hamilton Corners Garage in Guelph for a Canadian source...
The price is very reasonable in my mind, and is probably due to the unfairly bad reputation of the v6.
Good luck!
