You can do that if you want to but it is harder on the transmission in certain cases.
With your ZF transmission, the design is such that there is still friction taking place on the clutch packs while in neutral. If you don't go above idle speed (don't rev the engine in neutral) you'll be fine. The leftover friction CAN drive the car forward. This is especially pronounced when the engine is warmed up, or after sitting for long periods. I wouldn't mess around with any ZF transmission too much. They're VERY durable when treated right, and very weak when mistreated.
