If your car has the Regina fuel system, there is only an intank pump. The 700s with Bosch have an in-tank pre-pump and a main pump (located about under the dirver's seat).
There is an old Service Bulletin for Bendix/Regina Cold Start Improvments. This Service Buletin deals with cold start issues below -5 degrees C, so that may not be pertinent to your problem.
Is there fuel system pressure in the fuel rail when you first try to start the car? You might loosen the supply side fuel fitting first thing in the morning to see if there is residual fuel pressure. My son's 1984 760T has a bad check valve in the fuel pump. The first start of the day takes more engine cranking than any successive start of the day.
