Rolfe is right on about the trigger points. Besides the contacts getting dirty, I have found that the fiberous (sp?) cam followers where down over the years to the point that the contacts don't even open. You can bend the stationary side of the contacts slightly as a quick inexpensive remedy. The timing and dwell of the trigger points is not critical. If you shoot for open approx 180 deg and closed approx 180, you should be fine.
