Knocking in my b21f?? & Driveability Problem 200 1982

I just finished dealing with the a similar problem in my 1990 240 with LH 2.4 and 200K miles. I did a lot of circuit checking and cleaning, (O2 sensor, AMM, ECU tests... checked for vacuum leaks... all that stuff - wasted my weekend)
and finally waved the white flag. I took it to the shop this AM.

Don't know if the '82 has it but, it turned out that my CIS (idle motor) under the intake manifold was sticking intermittently. Note: I had cleaned the CIS with carburator cleaner during my trials, but apparently that wasn't enough. The shop claimed that it was due for replacement.

During acceleration it would not open quickly and bog, would stick open or closed. At high RPM it ran lean, and it would intermittently idle
high. The knock sensor ground was also due for cleaning.

Good luck.
