It's an '83 245gl

since it's a GL, the far-and-away easiest place is the clock.

Pop off the bezel with a flat screwdriver. Just pull the clock out. Make sure you don't lose the 3 little rubber grippers.

Tap into the red wire using your favorite method.

The draw is virtually nil, so no worries.
